The Vietnamese airline Vietjet ordered ten Airbus A321neo aircraft worth 1.2 billion USD. The funding for the new aircraft will be provided by French banks BNP Paribas and Natixis, as well as Japanese investors Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance and Investment House of Japan.
Vietjet and Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance (MUL), part of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), together with the French bank BNP Paribas signed an agreement to provide funds for the purchase of five new aircraft worth 614 million USD.
According to another agreement, the French bank Natixis and the Investment House of Japan signed an agreement to finance the acquisition of five more new aircraft worth 625 billion USD. The planes that Vietjet is going to buy will be new and modern, in particular, the airline plans to purchase Airbus A321neo aircraft, equipped with new generation engines, with improved aerodynamics and cabin. New aircraft will be commissioned in 2018 and early 2019.
The agreements reached confirm the confidence of the leading financial institutions of Japan in Vietjet, which recently opened three new flights to Japan.
Earlier in July, the airline also signed an agreement with Boeing on the purchase of 100 Boeing 737 aircraft. The aircraft will be transferred to Vietjet in 4 years (in 2022-2025).
