The forces loyal to the Libyan Government of National Accord announced on June 2 that they had shot down an alleged drone of the United Arab Emirates Air Force over the country’s capital, Tripoli.
Contrary to these claims, a video published by pro-Government sources of National Accord show the alleged remains of a Yabhon HMD.
The Yabhon HMD is in fact manufactured by a company based in the UAE, Adcom Systems. However, it does not even have surveillance or attack capabilities.
According to the available information, this type of aerial objectives was developed to simulate the enemy’s combat aircraft in the real fire exercises of the air force and air defense.
The objective was marked with its model name and the title: “made in the United Arab Emirates”. Several flags of the UAE, one of them out of place, can also be seen in it. These signs are usually painted on models that are displayed during exhibitions.
The false claims of the government forces of National Accord and the signs painted on the air target raise serious doubts about this incident, which was widely used to criticize the alleged military participation of the United Arab Emirates in the Libyan war.
