This Wednesday’s Military Air Accident in Spain is the Fourth in 2019

This Wednesday, a possible military air accident left two officials dead, in what is the fourth event of this type that affects the National Armed Forces (FAN) so far this year.

In fact, a Sukhoi in Guárico was involved.

Next, the incidents of this type that the FAN has suffered in 2019, in chronological order and in codes:

On Monday, February 4, the Russian MI 35 helicopter fell in El Pao, Cojedes state, leaving five soldiers wounded in the context of military exercises before an alleged US intervention.

The officials affected were Reynaldo Niño Lozano, Javier Enrique Ocanto Chinchilla, Juan Carlos Bohórquez Pérez, Yondry José Romero, and Michael Ibrahim.

An investigation determined that the helicopter was the number 24 that had an accident of the Armed Forces in the last 18 years, with a total of 89 dead only in incidents that involved this type of aircraft.

In 18 years the helicopter model with the most incidents was the Russian Mi-17V-5, belonging to the Army.

On Monday, March 11, the Cessna 206 aircraft of the acronym YV-1801 was damaged. The aircraft rushed ashore in the Gran Sabana, Bolívar state.

Colonel César Paúl Padrino Bruzual and the sergeant major of third José Silvestre Granja, both of the Zone of Integral Defense (Zodi) Guayana, died.

Colonels Andrés Bermúdez and Carlos Sánchez, and the pilot Jossan Pérez were injured.

It is presumed that the event occurred due to lack of fuel and in the Maurak mountain range, near the airport of Santa Elena de Uairén.

The plane belonged to Aerotransporte La Montaña.

The Cougar acronym FA-59180, attached to the Presidential Guard, fell in the El Hatillo Volcano sector on Saturday, May 4.

A total of seven Army officers died, including Major Alexis Alejandro Ávila Guerrero, pilot; Captain Carlos Eugenio Ramírez Dávila, co-pilot; Major Jacinto Alexánder Rengifo Rodríguez, machine chief; Lieutenant Colonel Tomás Enrique Ortega Valero, flight attendant; and Lieutenant Colonel Fernando Betancourt Ponte, Captain César Barreto Galán and Captain Felipe Amaya Villafrán.

The fourth event of the year occurred on Wednesday, October 16, in Guárico.

Sukhoi allegedly had failures since takeoff and left two dead pilots as balance: Virgilio Márquez Morilloy and Nesmar Salazar.

Few details were available immediately. The minute of the Zone of Integral Defense (Zodi) of Guárico reports that the Sukhoi turned sharply and ejection was activated at low altitude.

The su-30 firefighter aircraft went to Barcelona, in Anzoátegui.

The Citizen Control organization, chaired by Rocío San Miguel, has denounced opacity to determine responsibility for events, sanctions and corrective actions.

Between 2000 and May 2018, the total number of registered military air accidents is 72 and 160 deaths, according to the NGO, with an average of four per year.

“It is not normal for a fighter aircraft like the Sukhoi 30, with good maintenance, to have a flight control failure at the time of takeoff, as it happened.

Nor is it normal for a fighter aircraft with good maintenance, the ejection system fails, as happened.

The chairs of the Su-30 are designed to be ejected successfully even at low height. They are chairs, that is, they work at zero feet zero knots.

The questions are: “Why did not the parachute of the GB Márquez Morillo open?, Why did Cap Salazar die burned inside the plane?, Who is responsible for these deaths?, Who is responsible for the loss of assets of a state aircraft?” San Miguel wondered.
