Pilot will Receive $300,000 After Being Illegally Arrested for Undressing in Front of his Hotel Window

This Monday, the lawyer of a pilot who was arrested for being naked in front of the window of a hotel overlooking the Denver International Airport announced a judicial conciliation whereby his client will receive $300,000 of compensation from the US city for illegal arrest.

On September 20, 2018, Captain Andrew Collins of United Airlines was arrested for exhibitionism after airport workers reported seeing him naked and playing in his room, located on the tenth floor of the establishment.

According to Fox 31 Denver, Collins’s defense claimed that it is not illegal to undress in a hotel room and that the man did not know he could be seen from the terminal.

According to the pilot, after waking up, he opened the window curtains while preparing for the shower and was talking on the phone when several armed policemen knocked on his door, handcuffed him and took him to the airport detention center.

Collins was suspended in his company for six months, until in March of this year, the charges against him were dismissed by a judge.

The pilot complained to the media that, despite having been acquitted and recovered his work, he has to face the consequences of this indictment on a daily basis.

“I have been marked by the Department of Homeland Security. Every time I return to the country, they take me aside and ask me if I have had problems with the law,” he told the media.

The lawyer does not rule out legal action against the Marriott company, which owns the hotel, for allowing the police to enter without a warrant.

For his part, Collins urged the establishment to notify its guests about the visibility of the rooms from outside.
