Ufa International AirportThe government of Bashkortostan, which owns 100% of shares of JSC “Ufa International Airport”, does not plan to sell the asset. This was announced by the acting head of the republic Radiy Khabirov. He said that was repeatedly asked about the privatization of the airport, mainly by representatives of financial-industrial groups.

“The region has an airport – the best in Russia in last two years. Do you think it is wise to talk about the fate of the airport in this situation? The only correct decision is to develop our airport”, said Radiy Khabirov.

The topic of the privatization of Ufa airport has been discussed since 2011. In 2012, the regional authorities negotiated the sale of the company with representatives of Novaport, Regions of Russia, Basic Element and the structures of entrepreneur Igor Kostolevsky. However, no agreement was reached and the sale was abandoned.

Ufa Airport is among the ten largest in Russia. In January-November 2018, it served more than 3 million passengers. In 2015, the government invested 1.6 billion rubles in the reconstruction of the terminal of international airlines of the airport, increasing its capacity from 200 to 800 passengers per hour. Last year, the second stage of reconstruction began: the restructuring of the terminal of domestic airlines worth 5 billion rubles. It is expected that it will double the capacity of the terminal – up to 1,200 people per hour.
