Here is What Followed the ‘Assault’ on Area 51 in Search of Aliens: Memes, Arrests and Curiosities

Of the one and a half million people who promised in networks to join the “invasion”, only a few hundred attended the meeting.

Among the attendees was the only person arrested yesterday, a woman who tried to enter the military base in Nevada and who, according to the local Sheriff’s Office, will face lower charges.

With posters like “Save ET from the Government”, enthusiasts of extraterrestrial theories posed for the souvenir photos, and for a few minutes they gathered at the entrance of the military base.

They carried notices, flags, clothing alluding to aliens and the occasional harangue. However, neither the great masses of people, nor the programmed “invasion” were reported.

A single military agent and his specialized dog were enough, stationed at the entrance to the base, to prevent any of the assistants from entering the place.

According to popular theories and beliefs, in the famous garrison of the United States Government, located in Lincoln County, in the southern state of Nevada and about 130 kilometers from Las Vegas, all kinds of military secrets that include a ship and extraterrestrial bodies

What started last June as an event on Facebook, created by a 20-year-old student from California under the name of “Assault on Area 51, can’t stop us all,” became a musical encounter promoted as ‘Alienstock’, in Clear allusion to the mythical Woodstock Festival.

This event has summoned groups like the Californian and powerful trio Wily Savage, in addition to promising a full weekend of music, UFO and alien stories, and movies.

More than 1.3 million people confirmed their attendance and another similar figure declared themselves “interested” in attending the so-called “assault,” but the authorities’ quick warning gave new meaning to the event.

After receiving the unexpected visit of the FBI in his house, Matty Roberts, original organizer of the event, decided to change the course of his call.

From an “assault” it became a musical festival that has attracted an avalanche of media and visitors to two locations near the military base, Rachel and Hiko.

Both local and federal authorities have warned that visitors may approach the entrance to the military base, but they must respect the access limit.

“Any attempt to illegally access military facilities or military training areas is dangerous,” said Laura McAndrews, a spokesman for the US Air Force, anticipating the authorities’ response to the eventual “assault” on Area 51.

The base itself is not classified as a secret area, but all investigations and operations there are considered top secret, and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) publicly acknowledged the existence of that facility for the first time in 2013.

Although many confirmed assistance in the social network, not everyone embarked on the adventure of reaching the remote area where Area 51 is located, an area without internet, with low telephone signal and without hotel infrastructure, a commercial property.

Other people, in the best style of Las Vegas, preferred to join the call through online betting.

The casino.org site opened different betting lines around the event. One of them is dedicated to the number of people who will be arrested in their attempt to enter the military base.

Another question, what are the real chances of visitors assaulting Area 51. Likewise, a bet asks if US President Donald Trump will tell the world to stay away from the Air Force base.

But that is not all. T-shirts, flags, caps, stockings and even commemorative beer cans are being sold on the internet as hot bread on the occasion of the alleged assault.

The management of Little A’Le’Inn, the only hostel in the area, has said they are not prepared to receive large hordes of people.

Local authorities have made a special effort to ask potential stakeholders to take into account that tourist resources are minimal, and that any attempt of aggression, violation of the law or interruption of tranquility will be prosecuted and punished.
