F-15E Strike Eagles fighters of the United States Air Force participated in maritime and surface warfare exercises in the Persian Gulf.
According to a statement issued by the Central Command of the United States Air Forces, the Strike Eagles attached to the 336th Expeditionary Combat Squadron participated in an exercise in the integration of the maritime surface war with the Central Command of the United States Naval Forces, the USS González (DDG 66), and a P-3 Orion in the Persian Gulf.
The F-15E Strike Eagle is a double-role fighter designed to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. A series of avionics and electronics systems gives the F-15E the ability to fight at low altitude, day or night and in any weather.
“This unit-level exercise strengthened the integration of the assets of the United States Air Force in support of the surface fighters of the United States Navy,” said Navy Lieutenant Colonel Adrian Willing, planner for the Cell of the Air Operations Master Plan of the Air Operations Center 609.
“This training reinforces the real-world missions that are already being carried out.”
The F-15E have their base at Al Dhafra Air Base (United Arab Emirates), while the USS Gonzalez is assigned to Commander of Task Force-55 and P-3C Orion is assigned to CTF-57 with Bahrain base.
“The P-3C provides awareness of the maritime domain, it can also function as a sea air controller with long lazy times or use its own weapons as needed,” said Willing. “The USS González operates in the Persian Gulf to guarantee freedom of international navigation”.
While the scenarios were simulated, the team practiced real-world tactics, techniques and procedures to execute joint interchangeability in maritime air control and dynamic target selection.
“By exercising the entire operational process, we can identify and correct any problem that could slow down or hamper the ability to fight quickly and seamlessly integrate,” said Lt. Col. Benjamin Davidson, Chief of the Force Division of the Force’s AFCENT Aerial “This creates a closer relationship between NAVCENT and AFCENT, which we can use when requested to execute operations in the real world.

The demonstration of flexible and adaptable joint operations demonstrates that the United States military forces are even stronger and prepared to respond to contingencies and defend the United States forces and interests in the region.
