Engine of United Airlines aircraft Airbus A320 shutdown in flight

Airbus A320 UnitedUnited Airlines aircraft Airbus A320 suffered problem with engine after takeoff from Fort Myers (Florida) en route to Newark, New Jersey. A few minutes after departure, for unknown reasons, one of the engines of the aircraft stopped. The pilot decided to return to Fort Myers and landed safely without reporting injuries, among the 79 passengers and five crew members. The passengers were rebooked for other flights.

The company has already commented on the incident. The investigation for the root cause of the accident is under way.

“United Airlines flight 2397 from Fort Myers to Newark safely returned to the airport of departure due to a mechanical problem”, said United Airlines. “The company’s employees are working to ensure that passengers are sent to their destination by other flights”, adds the statement.

The Airbus A320 family consists of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus. The family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321, as well as the ACJ business jet.
