Chinесе leasing company, China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC), took delivery of its first Airbus A320neo and leased it to Frontier Airlines. CALC currently has 147 Airbus planes, including 68 of the A320neo type. Its total order book consists of 197 aircraft: 147 from Airbus and 50 from Boeing.
“CALC has an order for 68 aircraft of the A320neo family and, in total, a portfolio of orders for 147 Airbus aircraft. The A320neo, equipped with CFM engines and equipped with the latest cabins and seats, will provide Frontier Airlines passengers an unprecedented level of comfort”, notes Airbus in statement.
This is the first new engine option aircraft that CALC has added to its fleet, and the first that the Group has delivered to a US airline, Frontier Airlines, owned by Indigo Partners, a US-based private equity firm specialized in airlines investment and operations.
Indigo Partners, the owner of Frontier Airlines, JetSMART, Wizz Air and Volaris, recently placed an order for 430 Airbus A320 series, one of the largest aviation deals in history.
