Boeing reached a milestone of 2,000 orders for the 777 family aircraft

Boeing 777-300ERBoeing announced that the number of orders for the 777 family aircraft reached the milestone of 2,000, reinforcing the status of the most-sold wide-body airliner in history.

“The 777 family continues to delight passengers around the world, while at the same time ensuring profitable growth for our customers, which determines the high demand for this aircraft”, said Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president of sales and marketing for civilian aircraft at Boeing. “The stability of the positions of the current version 777 provides an effective transition to the new model 777X, in which the flight performance, efficiency, and range of the 777 family will be improved”, added he.

In December, BOC Aviation and customers, whose names were not disclosed, placed an order for 17 777 aircraft, increasing the total number of orders to 51 in 2018 and to 2,013 since the launch of the program. Orders include popular models like the passenger 777-300ER (with increased flight range), the long-haul cargo 777 Freighter, and the 777X, which is scheduled to roll out in the near future.

“Given the approaching wave of replacing large wide-bodied aircraft, Boeing 777 takes advantage positions to strengthen its leadership in the long-haul market and ensures the further development of the global route network”, said Ihssane Mounir.

Boeing 777 (Triple Seven) is a long-range wide-body twin-engine jet airliner. It is the world’s largest twinjet and has a typical seating capacity of 314 to 396 passengers, with a range of 5,240 to 8,555 nautical miles (9,704 to 15,844 km).
