The Latvian national airline AirBaltic is gradually resuming flights on Bombardier CS300 aircraft, which were suspended due to technical defects. This was announced on Thursday by the head of the department for public relations of air carrier Alice Briede, RZD-partner informs.
“At the moment, AirBaltic has resumed flights on some CS300 aircraft and it is planned today all aircraft to be tested and ready for flights”, said the head of corporate communications of the air carrier, Alice Briede. “The airplanes that have already resumed flights are in order and completely safe to fly. The Bombardier aircraft manufacturer and the Pratt & Whitney engine manufacturer hold additional checks to ensure the safety of aircraft and to make the necessary improvements to new aircraft”, added she.
On Wednesday evening, AirBaltic suspended all seven new Bombardier CS300 aircraft until the aircraft were technically tested. As reported by the local media, this was done on the basis of the manufacturer’s information about technical problems with aircraft – engine defects.
AirBaltic was the first airline in the world to receive and commission the CS300 aircraft. Until the end of 2019, the carrier must receive 20 aircraft ordered by the Canadian company Bombardier of this model.
