Aeroflot Boeing 737 hit a human during takeoff from Moscow Sheremetyevo airport

Aeroflot Boeing 737Aeroflot Boeing 737-800 hit a human during takeoff from Moscow Sheremetyevo airport in Russia. The airplane was en route from Moscow to Athens (Greece), when the pilots reported that had encountered a collision with an animal on the runway. There were no abnormal indication and the aircraft continue flight to Athens. The aircraft landed in Greece without further incident.

The airport authorities initiated inspection of the runway, where they found human remains as well as a wallet, documents and other personal belongings. It was found the 25-year-old Armenian citizen was being deported from Spain to Armenia via an intermediate stop in Moscow Sheremetyevo. Unfortunately he succeeded to escape from the police and ran on the runway, where was hit by the aircraft.

The post flight inspection of the aircraft revealed damage to the fuselage. The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Athens about 17 hours later.

Moscow’s Interregional Transport Prosecution Office opened an investigation into the accident.
