A Veteran Boeing says Goodbye to his Israeli Airline Tracing an Unexpected ‘Drawing’ in the Air

The company El Al Israel Airlines has paid a curious tribute to its Boeing 747-458, nicknamed ‘The Queen of the Skies’, with one last flight, after adding 48 years of service, reported on Sunday the page Flightradar24, which he shared images of the curious drawing that the aircraft traced with its route.

“The aircraft will draw a special tribute to 747 in the sky to the southwest of Cyprus,” says a message from the page, which broadcast the event live.

He also explained that flight LY1747 would depart from Rome to Tel Aviv and that the journey would last 2 hours.

The image shows – in view of aerial radar – how the device draws the silhouette of a Boeing over the Mediterranean Sea with its trajectory.

The Flightradar website offers the possibility to see the entire journey made by ‘The Queen of the Skies’.

In 1991 several Boeings of El Al transported a total of 14,325 Jews from Ethiopia in 35 hours to Israel as part of Operation Solomon.

During this military action the record for the number of passengers transported on a flight was broken, when a Boeing 747 carried 1,087, although at first it was only planned to embark 760.

A total of 346 people died in two Boeings 737 accidents that took place in October 2018 in Indonesia and in April this year in Ethiopia.

After these tragedies, several airlines have chosen to renew their fleet with newer aircraft such as the Boeing 787 or the Airbus A380.
