Two people have been warned that they face jail after admitting that they accessed CCTV images of the post-mortem exam by footballer Emiliano Sala. Sala, 28, had just signed with Cardiff when the plane he was traveling crashed into the English Channel, north of Guernsey, on January 21.
His body was recovered on February 6 and the next day a post mortem examination was performed at Bournemouth Mortuary. Sherry Bray, 49, and Christopher Ashford, 62, appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday, where they admitted to accessing CCTV images of Sala’s post mortem exam.
Ashford, of Calne, admitted three charges for unauthorized access to computer material between February 9 and 11 this year. Bray, of Corsham, admitted three charges for unauthorized access to computer material between April of last year and February of this year.
He also admitted to having perverted the course of public justice by instructing Ashford to ” delete his photos” on February 12, and the next day he would remove the post-mortem cameras from the installation of live streaming cameras and eliminate the post-image.
Judge Peter Crabtree warned the couple that the starting point for the sentence was custody. The couple was released on bail and must appear in the same court on September 20.
