Light aircraft Van’s RV-6 impacted pond water terrain in Clark County southeast of Daybreak Airport in La Center, Washington. Two people died in the crash and the plane suffered substantial damage.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said another pilot flying overhead spotted the downed propeller aircraft shortly after 4 p.m., south of the East Fork of the Lewis River. Emergency responders found the plane in a pond about two-feet deep. Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters found the single-engine propeller plane in a shallow pond. Unfortunately, the rescuers found the two occupants on board already dead.
The exact time and circumstances of the crash remain unknown.
Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an investigation at the site.
