The EU and Russia hold consultations on flight safety for Russian airlines

EU flights#Bilateral technical consultations between Russia and the EU on ensuring the safety of flights of Russian airlines transporting passengers and cargo to the airports of the countries participating in the SAFA program were held in Brussels.

“On October 5, 2018, Russia-EU bilateral technical consultations were held in Brussels on issues of ensuring flight safety for Russian airlines that transport passengers and cargoes to airports of member countries in the SAFA program. At the meeting, the results of inspections of Russian airlines’ aircraft were discussed”, says the statement of the Russia’s Permanent Mission to the EU, adding that the Russian delegation was headed by deputy head of Rosaviatsiya air transport agency Oleg Storchevoy.

The report notes that this format has never stopped, despite the freezing of the EU-Russia transport dialogue in general, work in this direction has continued without any disruptions since 2009.

“Representatives of the European Commission noted the continuing positive trend in improving the safety of flights carried out by Russian airlines. The parties confirmed the high efficiency of holding meetings in this format”, adds the statement.
