Light airplane Cessna 206 with 6 people on board crashed in Canaima National Park in the state of Bolivar in Venezuela. The aircraft took off from Canaima airport, but went missing shortly after that. The search operations were being conducted and the wreckage was found on a cliff in Canaima National Park near the Angel Falls, without fire evidence. All the six people on board of the aircraft were reported dead by the Venezuelan Ministry of the Interior.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. According to preliminary information, the aircraft collided with a mountain.
The Cessna 205, 206, and 207, known primarily as the Stationair (and marketed variously as the Super Skywagon, Skywagon and Super Skylane) are a family of single-engined, general aviation aircraft with fixed landing gear, used in commercial air service and also for personal use. The family was originally developed from the popular retractable-gear Cessna 210 and produced by the Cessna Aircraft Company.
