Airbus A319 of Air Moldova returns to Chisinau airport after crack on the windshield

Airbus A319 of Air MoldovaMoldovan airline Air Moldova reported that the aircraft performing flight Chisinau–Frankfurt returned to the airport due to a crack on the windshield. The aircraft Airbus A319 with 130 passengers on board took off from Moldovan airport in Chisinau en route to Frankfurt, but during climbing the crew reported crack on the windshield and pilot decided to return and cancel the flight.

“Air Moldova informs that the plane that carried out the flight 9U 863 on the route Chisinau-Frankfurt on August 6, 2018, returned to the airport of departure because of a crack on the windshield”, says the press release of Air Moldova. “The plane landed safely, passengers will be delivered to Frankfurt later today”, added the airline.

There were no reports on injuries or other damages to the aircraft. The investigation for the root cause of the accident is under way.

Airbus A319 is a member of the Airbus A320 family of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus. The A319 carries up to 160 passengers and has a maximum range of 3,700 nmi (6,900 km; 4,300 mi).
