The Oman’s budget airline SalamAir has signed an agreement to acquire six new Airbus A320neo aircraft, five of which will be leased from an undisclosed lessor.
SalamAir is owned by the Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS) and other private investors from Oman. The airline started operations on January 30, 2017 and today it performs about 120 flights per week in 14 directions. Currently, SalamAir operates a fleet of three A320 aircraft.
“Less than 18 months after the beginning of our work, we transported more than half a million passengers and we continue to gain momentum as the leading budget carrier of the country. With the acquisition of the new A320neo aircraft, we look forward to even greater success”, said the Chief Executive Officer of SalamAir, Mohamed Ahmed.
“SalamAir has demonstrated great potential as a budget carrier in Oman. The new Airbus A320neo aircraft will allow the carrier to achieve lower operating costs, improve fuel efficiency and provide the highest level of passenger comfort”, said commercial director of Airbus, Eric Schultz.
