Sheremetyevo International Airport retained the status of the most dynamic airport in Europe, as the passenger flow surpassed 25 million people since the beginning of the year. The growth rate of passenger traffic in Sheremetyevo is 22.9%. At the same time, passenger traffic in European airports grew by an average of 9.6%. The number of passengers served by Sheremetyevo International Airport since the beginning of the year increased by 18.8% compared to the same period in 2016 and reached 26.506 million travelers.
“Passenger flow on international flights in January-August 2017 increased by 19.3% and amounted to 14.740 million people, while on domestic flights growth was 18.2% to 11.766 million passengers. The travelers traffic in August 2017 increased by 19.6% compared to the same period of last year and amounted to 4.141 million people.The passenger flow in domestic flights in August increased by 18.3% and amounted to 2.343 million people”, the airport said.
The most popular foreign destinations in January-August were Paris, Tel Aviv, Prague, Beijing, Shanghai, and on domestic routes – St Petersburg, Simferopol, Sochi, Ekaterinburg and Krasnodar. The largest contribution to the growth of passenger traffic in Sheremetyevo International Airport in the first eight months of 2017 was made by the airlines Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Royal Flight, Ikar, Air France and Air Astana.
