International investigators are studying new information on the Boeing 777 crash in Ukraine, which was provided by the Russian Federation. The official representative of the Dutch prosecutor’s office released that there are new details about the flight MH17 crash.
“The new information received by the Joint Investigative Group from the Russian Federation is being studied”, said the Dutch prosecutor’s office, adding that he can not say how long this process will take and how valuable this data is for the investigators.
Referring to the readiness of the authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic to transfer the remains of the victims of the tragedy found recently on the site of the fall, the prosecutor stated that this issue is not under the jurisdiction of the office and advised to apply to the Ministry of Security and Justice of the Netherlands.
In August, the Prosecutor General Office of Russian federation retransmitted to the competent authorities of the Netherlands radar data on the air situation at the time of flight MH17 crash in July 2014. Initially, the information was sent in October 2016, but after its study, the Dutch side asked to convert the data into the ASTERIX format developed by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation and recognized throughout the world.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17) crashed on July 17, 2014, while flying over eastern Ukraine. The flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur killed 283 passengers and 15 crew. Contact with the aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, was lost about 50 km (31 mi) from the Ukraine–Russia border and wreckage of the aircraft landed near Torez in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, 40 km (25 mi) from the border.
